As far as shoulder issues and tightness, that is not a technique issue, that is a mobility issue and should be worked daily. MobilityWOD.com. The key is to work up to a weight, just because it is a max does not mean you can have crappy form. Perfect form = max, anything else is unacceptable and do not count it for yourself.
Also these max efforts are about going at max effort to tax your CNS and get your prepared and ready to handle heavy loads regularly. If you do not set a new PR every week…that means you are human.
